Another form is skin infection is due to bacteria. Bacterial skin infections can be small or large and may be harmless or very dangerous to your health. If there is any sort of wound or opening in the skin, it is susceptible to infection. Your skin is your first layer of protection again bacterial infections although certain other problems such diabetes or AIDS can may you more prone to a bacterial skin infection. Some forms of skin infections from bacteria are boils, folliculitis, carbuncles, and staphylococcal. Viral Skin Infections
A third type of skin infection is viral. Viruses are microorganisms that are smaller than fungi and bacteria. Viruses invade cells on different parts of the body and alter the way that the cells work. Some forms of skin infection from viruses include cold sores, shingles and warts. Parasitic Skin Infections
Skin infections that are caused by small bugs, insects or worms are called parasitic skin infections. Eggs planted under the skin or these parasites living under the skin can cause a number of different infections. Some forms of skin infections from parasites include lice and scabies.
